The GAMSAT Prep Courses are run by GRADMED an independent organisation with over 20 years educational experience. We are the UK’s original provider of training courses for GAMSAT and this is our third year of running the courses. Our experience has shown that amazing results can be achieved through hard work, and determination. Preparing students for GAMSAT is very different to A level or undergraduate teaching, and the materials, resources and questions used are specifically written for these courses. The syllabus that we devised is not diluted from A level, but is an amalgam of key scientific concepts that determine the mainstay of GAMSAT study. Classes are small, allowing for interactive teaching and opportunity for individual involvement.

GAMSAT helps to identify potential doctors through the assessment of critical skills and those all-important aptitudes. Academic achievement alone does not mean automatic eminent suitability for the medical profession. Likewise, the same applies to a strong scientific background necessarily being the main benchmark at graduate-entry level. Probing for in-depth aptitudes and the not so obvious attributes can bring about unexpected results, and a test such as GAMSAT is clearly particularly adept in this area.

Problem-based learning has become integral to many courses at medical schools. Whilst potential medical students tend to welcome this style, it is important in practice to be fully aware of what such an approach means to them. There are many aspects to PBL, both from the teaching and studying perspectives. It isn`t just a question of more independent study and less lecture based sessions. Tests such as GAMSAT are strong identifiers of the study skills and approaches required to integrate and work with PBL successfully.

Our students have consistently shown that, irrespective of academic background or age, they can develop and utilize knowledge in a way they didn’t think possible. Preparing students for GAMSAT is very different to A level or undergraduate teaching, and the materials, resources and questions used are specifically written for these courses. The syllabus that we devised for the scientific element is not diluted from A level, but is an amalgam of key scientific concepts that determine the mainstay of GAMSAT study. Whilst the programme for sections I and II is unique to us, specifically formulated for the purposes of GAMSAT teaching.
